Reaching that magic age this year, Richard Beard retired at our AGM on 24th of July 2014 as a Director of Crowthers Accountants Limited. Richard has been involved with us from the very start so his retirement is tinged with sadness but of course we must also celebrate his hugely successful career in accountancy.
Richard has been an integral part of our team and whilst he was primarily based at our Ledbury office he has helped develop our business strategy across both our offices and his vast experience has given all the directors and managers huge support and the confidence to develop the business ethos of the firm.
Richard is a Chartered Accountant and started his accountancy career at Deloittes and subsequently began his own accountancy practice in Ledbury called Beard + Company in 1987.
He opened a separate office in Malvern before leading the firm into a merger with my own firm Crowther & Co (based in Pershore) in 2001. That business then became known as Crowther Beard LLP and grew to 6 offices before we demerged from that firm taking away the Pershore and Ledbury offices to create a separate independent accountancy practice, Crowthers Accountants Limited in January 2006.
Since 2006, Crowthers have continued to develop and provide accountancy and taxation support to local businesses and individuals based in the towns of Ledbury and Pershore but operating throughout the 3 counties.
Richard enjoys dealing with business development activities both for clients and our own accountancy practice and his guiding hand and support has been a constant benefit to us.
Whilst Richard is retiring as a Director we know that he will continue to have a strong and close relationship with us in the coming years and he will certainly continue to be consulted with regard to our own business development strategy. He has kindly agreed that we can continue to seek his advice and guidance in a consultancy capacity going forward.
I suppose this means that I am now the Senior Partner!
